a lot of people want to know the answer to. that suspect has been rae recaptured back in the hands of north las vegas police department. kyndell nunley live from the headquarters with what we can expect to learn today. i know they're going to hold a press conference and we may get those first details. >> kyndell: that is correct. at 3:00 this afternoon the first chief with the north las vegas police department is expected to answer our questions and let us know exactly what happened here a few days ago when a suspect accused of murder was able to room. i can tell you the latest information that we do have is new information after nearly five days on the run. 25-year-old alonzo perez was found at an akwantsance's -- acquaintance's apartment near charleston and pecos. he was taken into custody last night by an fbi task force without a struggle. perez is accused of murdering 31-year-old mohammad robinson on august 27th. this after investigators say robinson didn't hold open a door

but broke out of handcuffs when he was alone in an interrogation room. the family of the victim says they're relieved but still half many questions. here is his sister mag joy just moments after she got the news. >> torture. just pain. just hurts so bad knowing that the person that murdered my brother might get away with it. having that feeling is something that i hope no one has to experience. i know it caught is -- i haven't smieltd since i heard my brother passed. this is like the first good smile that's come out of michele. >> kyndell: and we have a full list of unanswered questions. but mainly how this man was able to escape out of police custody when he is being questioned about this murder. i can tell you we're going be asking many others live here on news 3 starting at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon.

las vegas, kyndell nunley, news 3. >> michelle: jury selection begins today in oregon for seven standoff suspects including two of cliven bundy's sons. both ryan and ammon bundy face federal conspiracy charges after prosecutors say they threatened employees at that wildlife refuge. the bundys claim they used their first amendment rights in peaceful protest and exercised their second amendment rights to have guns. prosecutors dropped charges wednesday for an eighth susct standoff was a journalist. police are still looking for suspects in a double homicide. it happened in the northwest part of the valley yesterday in the parking lot of the avery park apartments. that's on torrey pines and smoke ranch. officers say they found two men there with gunshot wounds. both later died at umc. officers are looking for multiple suspects in this case. if you know anything about what happened, they are urging you to come forward. call crime stoppers to remain

broke out at an apartment complex in a south part of town. that fire left one injured and 16 people without a home. it broke out about ten tuesday night at the apartments near las vegas boulevard and serene. the owner of the apartment says a cooking accident may have caused the fire. today crews are warning those to in the area to stay away from the building after asbestos was found. crews are using proper procedures to blast a local construction site or blast highlands there. people have been complaining because they say it is so loud. the commissioner says she met with the home builders behind that project and she is convinced they are using safe procedures to detonate there. people who live there near that site south of cactus are upset telling us they started noticing cracks in their home not long after the blasting began. brager says she will continue to listen to concerns from

near the las vegas strip will open just in time for new year's eve we've learned. builders tell us the resort will open saturday december 3rd. they're planning a traditional celebration. they're going to have fireworks a lion and dragon dance and the world's largest tea service. the lucky dragon will start taking reservations october 1st on its website. >> krystal: if you have ever seen the lion or dragon dances in person it's so it's really cool to see. looking forward to that. there's new information that we learned today about the obama administration's deal with iran that freed four american prisoners in january. >> michelle: it is a deal that involved hundreds of millions of dollars. and critics insist this was the president paying ransom. nbc's ron allen has more from laos. >> reporter: the obama administration has said all that money -- $1.7 billion -- was owed to iran. settling a decades old dispute

an agreement they say that coincided with the prisoner release and the implementation of the iran nuclear deal. the president insisted the deals were not connected and not ransom. >> we do not pay ransom for hostages. >> reporter: but critics of the deal say the administration as refused to reveal details about when and how the cash was sent. and say hundreds of million in cash could end up in the hands of terrorists and endanger americans. the white housens when asked whether an additional $1.3 billion had been sent to iran like the $400 million payment. >> haven't been as specific about the mechanism of the payment for the $1.3 billion other than to say that we had a similar arrangement with a central bank. >> reporter: the administration insist some of the details must be kept secret and it had to use cash because of the international sanctions against iran. still republicans on the hill

department mechanicist and one ems lieutenant. >> it is so hard to believe we are approaching the 15th year anniversary. two people in custody after a car parked near a notre dame cathedral in paris was found with seven gas canisters and no license plates. the french interior minister says it's still not clear why the car was abandoned. an employee of a near by bar nobody was inside. the officials said the car's owner and another person were taken into custody. >> krystal: an american tourist in thailand recovering after breaking her spine trying to run from a man who she says was molesting her. the 23-year-old tumbled down a 150 foot cliff after biting the man's ear when he tried to remove her clothes. the woman was found by rescuers the next morning. the alleged attacker has been arrested but he claims

let's take a look at the radar as we get you started on this noon hour. there you see the rain showers in arizona. they've been dealing with that throughout much of the morning. we're taking a longer view and seeing the center of rotation crossing over into arizona right now. again tucson is the target as far as who is going to see the most amount of rain. by most amount of rain we're looking at three inches. zooming in closer there's tucson. again, flash-flood watch. also southern new mexico under this as well. phoenix seeing a little bit of shower activity from this. now let's zoom in closer to home where we're seeing the closest showers. those are around flag staff, prescott, then also around kingman we could see some showers. notice this too. this is the cloud shield from the former hurricane. we're starting to see clouds making their way in to

buy trail mix but only had a $100 bill on him. riley ended up selling him the trail mix and giving him $80 in change. >> money they earn for do their summer camps, buy the uniforms, their activities. and it irritates me a lot. >> marie: riley's dad says he went into the florida wal mart to report what happened and turns out the same man had tried to use that same fake wouldn't take it. >> there was a ring of a certain group of individuals trying to pass $100 bills, fage ones, around the area. >> marie: he says he feels bad for riley because now he is out about $100 and lost his innocence too. >> i asked him what did he learn about this experience? he said not to trust people. that's not right. we're supposed to trust other people. >> i am not necessarily
